Africa Construction Summit 2017

Tapping into Africa’s growth opportunities

The Africa Construction Summit 2017 held in Munich last week, was a unique opportunity for international construction industry professionals to meet in Europe with key players from Africa and gain access to major infrastructure and construction projects. The event took place from 31st May to 1st June 2017 at the Hilton Munich Park and brought together key stakeholders from Africa’s booming construction industry to meet and network with both existing clients and potential new business partners. The conference was attended by senior-level delegates from government ministries, contractors, project developers, architects, engineers, investors and distributions from more than 16 African countries.

Africa’s construction industry is experiencing record growth. The infrastructure and construction boom is driven by unprecedented levels of economic growth across a continent with a rapidly increasing population, an abundance of natural resources and a growing middle class. Over the next 5 years, an astonishing 13 of the world’s fastest 20 growing economies are forecast to be in Africa. While Africa’s share of world population is increasing, Africa holds the weakest infrastructure in the world.

This 2day event offered valuable face-time with African construction leaders in the form of VIP Meet the Buyer Sessions and one-to-one meetings within the venue. The focus of the conference was set on the challenge of addressing the region’s massive infrastructure deficit. Whereas discussions involved opportunities within construction and infrastructure in the African continent, major infrastructure projects, facilitation of business relations and financing options across the region in the public as well as the private sector.
