Behind BAU 2017 trade fair

BAU 2017, the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems, held in Munich last week, succeeded once again in demonstrating its position (long standing reputation) as a driving force of innovation in the construction industry.

Since its founding in 1964, BAU has evolved into an internationally respected construction event. Every 2 years, BAU brings together the who’s who of the entire building industry under one roof. It is a gathering for everyone involved in planning, building and designing buildings, from architects, investors, industry and trade representatives to building tradesmen as well as interested guests to find out more about product innovations and concrete solutions.

During the 6-day event, BAU 2017 welcomed more than 250,000 trade visitors, while for the first time ever 80,000 visitors were from abroad, with Austria, Switzerland and Italy taking the lead, adding to the expo’s international standing. While, with a total of 2,120 exhibitors from 45 countries, the event set yet another record for the number of exhibitors.

From the exhibitors' perspective, it was an ideal opportunity to put your products into play for future projects reaching out to an international, diverse, high-quality audience. For GLASSCON, the event offered a chance to explore upcoming trends in façade systems and architectural applications and developments in materials offering exciting new possibilities for the future of building. The trade visitors’ interest revolved around smart building elements and how digitalization is influencing the future of building —from concrete with light-transmitting fibers to energy-generating facades and system solutions for completely connected smart homes.

The next BAU will take place at the Messe München trade fair center from January 14 to 19, 2019.

See you there!
